A waxing system on an industrial packaging corrugated paper line at a Tennessee facility could not reliably maintain the required 200° F supply and return line temperatures, causing downtime and slowing production. The supply lines feed rollers that apply wax to the corrugated paper; excess wax feeds back into the waxing lines supply tank via return lines. Maintaining the wax at the prescribed temperature was vital to line flow.
Chromalox recommended and installed 500 feet of self-regulating heat tracing cable to help maintain temperatures within prescribed parameters on both the high and low side. The line is regulated via a Chromalox IntelliTRACE® heat tracing line sensing control panel. Microprocessor-based, the touch-screen panel allows programming of, plus monitors and regulates the high/low temperatures and provides a ground fault alarm and trip monitor. The success of this line may lead to similar applications at other facilities the customer maintains around the United States.
