Chromalox provides products, systems and service solutions that not only enhance our customers businesses, but also lessen their environmental impacts, through improved energy efficiency and increased industrial productivity. we recognize the need to minimize our environmental impacts through managing our energy consumption, with the aim of reducing our CO2e emissions intensity; managing the production and disposal of effluent and waste; and reducing water use.
The principles of risk reduction and continuous improvement are also reflected in our approach to product development. When designing eco-efficient and recyclable products we conduct Life Cycle Assessments – comprehensive evaluations that encompass long-term environmental consequences. work to implement our programs and to ensure that our facilities comply with ISO and OSHA’S standards to manage environmental and health and safety risks.
Managing carbon emissions
Climate change is widely recognized as a global threat, with the potential to affect world environmental, social, political and economic systems. In accordance with national and international directives on climate change, we endeavor to continuously reduce the carbon intensity of our business and implement strategies to minimize our carbon footprint. We measure and report our CO2e emissions which is audited with limited assurance provided by TÜV UK Ltd, part of the TÜV NORD Group to our parent company Spirax Sarco.
Managing effluent and waste
Reducing the amount of waste generated by our operations and the quantity of waste sent to landfill is an important component of managing our environmental sustainability. Recycling schemes are in operation across the Group and we have dedicated contractors to proactively manage waste. We also seek to prevent the creation of waste within our operations.
Environmental management standard ISO 14001
ISO 14001: 2004 is an international environmental management standard. Certification to the standard provides assurance to the managers and employees of a company, as well as external stakeholders, that the environmental impact of a business is being managed and improved. The certification process is rigorous, requiring external auditing against prescribed standards, including waste management and energy consumption. We have trained a team of internal auditors to lay goals and objectives in acquiring the certification for our manufacturing sites.
