A major medical laboratory came to Chromalox when an issue with a lab instrument occurred. A thermal cycler lab instrument is used for processing and replicating DNA. The instrument contains a heating element that is built into the lid. The requirement is for a full turnkey assembly to include the heating element vulcanized to an aluminum plate, thermister, thermal cutoff, standoffs, wiring and connectors. The application requires a high quality assembly, built for precision, with high attention to detail. The solution must provide uniform heating, proper fit, and strain relief on wiring connections.
Chromalox engineers suggested flexible heater model SL-B. The customer's product development team worked closely with Chromalox design engineers to provide a product solution that met the specificationa as well as competitive cost and manufacturing requirements. This involved quick turn prototyping, tooling of custom circuitry, and pre-production assemblies. Our design team was able to fine tune and document the customize solution throught the process - from conception to production. The flexible heater was delivered on time, meeting the quality and performance specification at a competitive price.
